Community Development Practice and Learning Opportunities
COGS promotes and facilitates understanding, skill development and reflection of community development practice and policy.
‘Conscious’ and reflective community work practice is a key theme in our work. Our publication, “Building Practitioner Strengths”, provides a framework for use in planning and reflecting upon practice as well as approaches to individual supervision, peer mentoring and team / collective learning and development.
We can provide:
- Development and reflection workshops, and mentoring and non-managerial supervision, for community workers and development practitioners e.g. for local authority departments and teams, voluntary sector organisations, and for individual workers.
- Design and facilitation of accredited and non-accredited (from OCN basic levels to post graduate levels) training and learning programmes for community activists and experienced practitioners working in a community setting. These range from 1, 3 and 6 day courses.
- Development and production of training manuals and materials, including training for trainers handbooks.
